‘There’s No Such Thing as an Authentic Warhol’
With a week left of school to go, it’s finals again. Yikes. I finished one paper yesterday, but I have another 3,000 word paper to write. I have to convince my professor why I think the Andy Warhol Art Authentication Board should disband due to his very concept of subverting authenticity at the artist’s hand. The paper is mainly based on research conducted on the recent, undetermined case of The Mysterious 315 Johns (Malanga v. Chamberlain). Andy Warhol: Denied is an interesting video on another case of authenticating a Warhol, which was twice-denied by the board. It’s tricky business writing a persuasive paper on legal issues in the arts; a topic I thoroughly enjoy, but find challenging.
