In light of a historic 2008 election season, the Kate Spade creative team was invited by The Wolfsonian to join sixty contemporary artists and designers to create a poster inspired by American Illustrator Norman Rockwell’s Four Freedoms art work of 1943. Riffing on one of the most recognizable icons in election history—the campaign button—we set about creating a series of buttons featuring “slogans” for the various freedoms (both serious and playful) that we enjoy. The design of the final poster is an arrangement of these pins, and we hope, serves as a reminder of the remarkable freedoms that are our rights as Americans. The poster was included in the Wolfsonian’s “Thoughts on Democracy” exhibit, which is on display through December 7, 2008. (via)
